American Airlines returns to Iceland
American Airlines today announced a new scheduled route between Keflavík Airport (KEF) and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), launching on 27 May 2027. The airline will operate daily flights throughout the summer season using an Airbus A321neo aircraft with seating for 196 passengers.
The new service marks American Airlines' return to Iceland after an absence of a few years. The carrier launched flights between KEF and Dallas-Fort Worth in 2018 and had planned to add Philadelphia as a destination in 2020. However, those plans were halted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which also led to the suspension of the airline's Iceland-Dallas service.
